Sala Thai Awarded “Thai Select” Certificate

A glance over a Thai cook’s shoulder gives us a first impression of the enormous range of preparation possibilities that, among other things, are crucial for the variety of Thai cuisine. They steam, fry, broil, cut and dry, to name only a few ways in which simple ingredients are turned into works of art for the palate and the eye.

Thai cuisine takes a pride of place in its natural heritage, practiced as an art and handed down from generation to generation. Thai food not only tastes good but also looks beautiful, with intricate carvings and creative decorations. And a popular way to savor the delight of the Thai meal is dining together with a group of friends and share the many dishes together.  It’s always a hearty feast filled with fun and fiery flavors of Thai culinary creations. To enjoy Thai dining, you don’t actually need to be in Thailand. But to ensure that you get the real experience, simply look for the “Thai Select” logo from Royal Thai Government. They realize the importance of maintaining high standards of quality, and have responded with this seal of approval.

“Thai Select” certifies that not only the food, but also the hospitality and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Chefs must be carefully trained in the preparation of bona fide Thai meals. Receiving this prestigious award isn’t easy; the bar is set high and the guidelines are strict. Still, through training and inspections, Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh’s Thai Restaurant is proud to announce achieving this distinction, “Thai Select”, by the Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy.

One of the splendours of Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh is the Sala Thai restaurant. The décor is entirely hand-carved in Egypt and Italy and modeled on a traditional Thai garden house (hence the name “Sala”).  The lobby entry draws the guest through massive carved doors into a quaint tea bar.  Its convex window overlooking the bay and a softly lit cove ceiling are simple but full of character. The restaurant itself is breathtaking: large windows overlook the sea and lead to a magnificent two-level terrace; a dramatic beamed ceiling and walls are intricately carved with nature scenes; greenery is oriental in style and sits in handmade ceramic planters; seats have comfortable armrests and brightly coloured cushions; it all creates an Eastern style sensuality that permeates every inch of this alluring restaurant.

A brass and raised bronze appliqué forms the backdrop of the wooden canopied theatre kitchen.  As inside seating is on two levels, guests may gaze upon the Thai chefs’ performances while breathing in the heady scents of lemongrass and ginger.  Theatrical lighting makes this part of the room the centre of the action.

A private dining room is a temple of outstanding design.  The room seats ten guests around a traditional round table under a five metre high, four-sided apex carved ceiling.  A glass curtain runs the length of two sides, offering up truly remarkable double views of the Gardens Bay.

“Thai Select Awarded Sala Thai” assures you that delicious Thai cuisine is being served in a pleasant atmosphere, and with a famous Thai smile. It’s not just a meal; it’s a journey into Thai culture.
